Ayurvedic massage uses different techniques to a Swedish or deep tissue massage. Ayurvedic massage uses a variety of techniques to awaken marma points and stimulate endorphins throughout the body. The rhythmic motion used to stimulate marma points can help joint, muscle stiffness, and mobility.
In Ayurveda, oiling the body is very important. This technique wards off old age by nourishing the body and keeping joints and skin healthy. The oil used must be 100% natural as synthetic oils will not penetrate the body tissues.
For this reason, an Ayurvedic masseur will not apply deep pressure to break down knots. If you would like to break down tension in shoulders or lower back, please book our signature massage which provides deeper pressure.
Oils used in Ayurvedic are specially selected for you. You will complete a detailed consultation on arrival at the cabin to identify your dosha type; vata, pitta, or kalph. For instance, if the massage therapist believes you need the flow of vata, they will use warm oils, whereas if they believe you need to improve the flow of pitta, they will use a cooler oil to calm.
